Since Classical times, humans have been using renewable resources to meet their energy needs.

Our project is thus a continuation, at the molecular scale, of this agriculture for energy production. The Global Bioenergies process sits at the meeting point of two historical lines of biofuel development, those of vegetable oils and ethanol:

- The process leads to the production of hydrocarbons, resembling oils in terms of texture and energy content.

- Its mechanism, like that of alcoholic fermentation, is based on the metabolic conversion of sugars.

We can thus talk about a “metabolic press”.
